A Key Worker is a member of the
MDT / PHCT (Primary Health Care Team) who will be your main point of contact during your treatment. Your Key Worker is usually a nurse who has been specially trained to care for patients with your type of cancer. He/She will assess your needs at key points during your care.
Yor Key Worker will be able to provide you with the right amount of information you require, they will provide you with emotional support and offer you the opportunity to share your concerns at this difficult time. They will be very familiar with your type of cancer and your individual treatment plan. Your Key Worker will also be the co-ordinator of your treatment plan and can help you access support from lots of different agencies, such as Macmillan Cancer Support, financial benefits advice and local support groups.
If you move between Hospitals or care settings, the role of the Key Worker may be transferred to another Health Care Professional.
