Equality, Diversity & Human Rights

What we do

We see over a million patients a year from large and evolving  Liverpool and North West populations.  We are proud to be delivering a wide range of patient focused service led care working to ensure that diversity and difference are recognised as strengths that enrich the work of the hospital and help us to deliver services that meet the needs of our local communities.

We aim to ensure that equality and diversity is central to the mission, vision and values of the hospital and is embedded into day to day activity and to provide an environment for patients where there is equality of access and where they are enabled to achieve maximum recovery and independence and their dignity, individuality and preferences are respected and needs are met and all current and potential employees are treated with dignity, respect and fairness.

We welcome the new public sector equality duty (PSED), which places an emphasis on transparency and public accountability and the national Equality Delivery System (EDS) that performance manages equality performance across the NHS.

We have published the results of our EDS (click here) which tells you how we are performing and what we are doing to meet the new equality duty.   Using the EDS framework to assess our performance we have set corporate equality objectives to make further improvements to our practice.
