Sanjay has been a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust since August 2011. Since his appointment he has co-founded the North West Pelvic and Acetabular Network and is the Clinical Lead for infection Control at the The Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Sanjay attended Cambridge University Medical School from 1994 – 2000. He completed his basic surgical training in Nottingham and was appointed Specialist Registrar in Orthopaedics on the Cambridge rotation in 2004. He passed his FRCS (Tr&Orth) exam in 2009 and has been on the Specialist Register since 2010.
After completing his surgical training in the UK, Sanjay spent a fellowship year in Vancouver, Canada gaining further experience in complex orthopaedic trauma including fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum (hip socket). He has also visited Harbourview Medical Centre, Seattle and Parkland Medical centre, Dallas to learn percutaneous and minimally invasive techniques of pelvis and acetabulum fracture fixation.
Currently, Sanjay’s practice at The Royal Liverpool Hospital involves dealing with complex lower limb injuries and fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum. At Broadgreen Hospital, he performs hip and knee replacements and arthroscopic surgery of the knee including ligament reconstruction.
Sanjay is an ATLS instructor and keen teacher. He has presented his research at national and international meetings and has published in peer-review journals.
