Richard Clark is Professor of Haematology & Consultant Haematologist at the University of Liverpool & Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He studied medicine at Cambridge and the Westminster Hospital Medical School. After general medical training and a short spell back at Addenbrookes, he spent 7 years at the University of Wales College of Medicine, developing a research interest in myeloid leukaemias and especially myelodysplastic syndrome. He joined the University of Liverpool in 1990 as Senior Lecturer, promoted Professor in 2004. His clinical and research interest is in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), with particular focus on the pharmacological factors predictive of response to imatinib and newer tyrosine kinase inhibitors and on the immune response to BCR-ABL. He succeeded John Goldman as chair of the CML subgroup of the NCRI in 2006. He has authored or coauthored over 137 publications and book chapters.
