Mr. Matthew Kent is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals. He studied medicine at Liverpool University before completing his basic surgical training in the Mersey region. He then left the region to spend a year in New Zealand before returning to the UK to complete his specialist orthopaedic training on the Cambridge rotation . After deciding to specialise in the area of shoulder and elbow surgery he undertook fellowships at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital as well as under Mr Brownson here in Liverpool before being appointed as a consultant in 2011. He has also visited a number of prestigious centres in the UK and Europe to further develop his area of specialist interest.
Mr. Kent is actively involved with teaching and research in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery. He also gained an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University following research into upper limb biomechanics.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his young family as well as cycling and walking.
