Chairman and Chief Executive

Bill GriffithsChairman: Bill Griffiths

Bill is currently chair of the Disclosure and Barring Service and has also served as chairman of the Forensic Science Service.  

After a career in finance and international business mainly with Unilever and latterly with ICI, he gained non-executive experience with several government departments including Defra, DFID and DWP.  Bill is a qualified accountant (ACMA) with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics. 

Chief Executive: Aidan Kehoe  Aiden Kehoe

Aidan is the Chief Executive at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals Trust. Aidan is a Qualified Chartered Accountant having trained with KPMG in Birmingham.

He started his career with the National Health Service as a Management Trainee and has over 20 years’ experience as an NHS Manager, having worked in Trusts at Salisbury, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Salford and Blackpool.​

 

Non-Executive Directors​

​​Non-Executive Director​: Mike Eastwood  Neil Wilcox

Mike is currently diocesan secretary (chief executive) of the Diocese of Liverpool as well as the director of operations at Liverpool Cathedral.

He has significant experience of working at director level in the third sector. He currently holds a number of voluntary positions supporting the church and local community development.  He has a BA (Hons)  in Modern History.

Non Executive Director: Professor Malcolm Jackson

Malcolm is a non-clinical biomedical scientist with a wide managerial experience. He completed a PhD in 1980, was awarded a DSc in 1994 and FRCPath in 1997. Malcolm is currently Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Impact for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Liverpool University.  HE is also the Director of the MRC-Arthritis Research UK Centre for Integrated Research into Musculoskeletal Ageing (CIMA). 

Non Executive Director: Angela Phillips

A senior Board member and finance professional with experience in both the public and private sector leading major change projects. Angela is a qualified  chartered accountant.  Most recently Angela was employed as the Director of Finance at the University of Bradford. Angela has worked in different roles in NHS commissioning as well as senior roles in a private hospital group.

Non Executive Director: Geoff Stewart  

Geoff began his career in the chemical industry with extensive experience in sales, business development and marketing. Geoff then held a number of roles in public sector economic development and regeneration including joint ventures and maximising investment opportunities.

He has an established development and management consultancy whose principal activities, include business review, strategic planning, corporate governance and project management.

Non-Executive Director: Neil Willcox

Neil is a chartered accountant. He began work in private industry before joining as an international firm of chartered accountants as an audit senior and manager.

Neil is now the managing director of software, hosted services and infrastructure company which supports medium and large organisations in the private and public sector. Neil has both executive and non-executive experience, the latter gained in the health sector.


Associate Non Executive Director: ​Dr James Kingsland

James is a senior partner in general practice. He has significant experience of leading large primary care teams of clinicians, managers and administrators and has been a GP trainer and an undergraduate tutor for a number of medical schools.

James has held a wide range of senior leadership positions including National Practice Based Commissioning Clinical Network Lead, Vice Chair Wirral Health Authority, President National Association Primary Care as well as a number of roles with the Department of Health. He has previously served as a Non Executive Director for six years in a specialist NHS FT.

Associate Non Executive Director: Susan Young

Susan is an experienced HR professional who has worked in both central and local government, and the NHS.  Susan is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development with 16 years’ experience in HR, OD and broader transformation and change in the public sector.  Susan has significant Board level experience in the public sector.

Executive Directors

Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance: John Graham  

John has almost 30 years NHS experience having worked for a variety of Trusts including (most recently) Greater Manchester West NHS Foundation Trust, a strategic health authority and the Department of Health.

John said: “Working here is a fantastic opportunity and we have some big projects to complete over the next few years, such as the new Royal and gaining foundation trust status. “I am looking forward to getting stuck in and working with staff across our hospitals.”

Chief Nurse and Chief Operating Officer: Lisa Grant

Lisa started at the Trust as Chief Nurse in March 2014. She was previously Director of Nursing and Modernisation at the Walton Centre from 2011 and has worked in various roles, gaining extensive experience, including at Aintree, Wirral Hospitals and the Christie Hospital.

Lisa started her career as a staff nurse at the Royal in 1998. Lisa holds a Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Management, a Masters in Management and Leadership and an MBA.

Medical Director: Dr Peter Williams

Peter held several junior doctor roles and worked as a kidney research fellow before becoming a senior registrar in nephrology at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. With several years in Manchester as a consultant he returned to Liverpool in 1997 as a consultant nephrologist. 

He has since remained at the Trust taking on a variety of roles including clinical director for general internal medicine, divisional medical director and most recently, medical director.

 

Executive Director of Workforce: Debbie Herring

Debbie Herring is the executive director of workforce, and she joined the Trust on 31 July from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she was director of strategy and development.

Debbie has held various senior roles in the NHS including director of strategy, HR and organisational development at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, director of HR and organisational development at Aintree University Hospital and director of HR and organisational development at Countess of Chester Hospital.

Debbie is also the vice chair of NHS Employer’s Policy Board and chair of NHS Providers HR Directors Network.

   

         

Directors

Chief Information Officer: David Walliker David Walliker

David started at the Trust as Chief Information Officer in January 2015. He is also the Chief Information Officer at Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and North West Coast Genomics, where he has been in post since 2013. David has over 14 years’ experience within the NHS including working in Mental Health and Ambulance Services. Within his current role David has accountability for Information Technology, Information Management and Patient Access Services and he is also the Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO) for the Trust.

David holds a MSc in Health Informatics.

 

Helen ShawDirector of Communications & Marketing: Helen Shaw

Helen has a degree in Business Studies and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She has established and managed communication and marketing teams in a range of sectors including manufacturing, financial services, local authority, emergency services and has been at the trust since 2008. In her roles she has worked to improve; customer and public satisfaction through service improvements, and organisational reputation through effective communications and engagement both internally and externally.
