Cancer services in Liverpool

cancer_support_at_every_stageWe give comprehensive cancer care for the people of Liverpool – providing a service that's excellent, compassionate and timely. In fact, we're considered to be one of the UK's leading cancer centres. Find out why:

Caring for Liverpool and beyond

We're part of the Merseyside & Cheshire Cancer Network. Over 2.3 million people can benefit from our specialist knowledge.

World-class cancer facilities

Diagnosing cancer quickly is the key to effective treatment. We have a world-class radiology department, with three CT scanners and three MRI scanners. A static PET-CT scanner will be on-site in spring 2010.

Regional cancer specialists

We provide cancer diagnosis and treatment for over 20 different cancer types. The hospital is the regional cancer centre for 11 cancers and a national centre for ocular oncology (eye cancer).

The latest cancer treatments

Clinical trials find new ways of preventing, diagnosing, controlling and treating cancer. Patients often have a better outcome after taking part. We give all our cancer patients the opportunity take part wherever possible.

Experts working together to provide the best treatment

Multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) are central to the way we work. MDTs combine the expertise of cancer specialists with the knowledge of other health professionals. And because we recognise that everyone has different needs, MDTs develop treatment plans that are personalised to each patient.

Research-driven care

Our links with the University of Liverpool mean we conduct research into cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. We've also played a vital part in the development of the new CR-UK Liverpool Cancer Research Centre.

Fighting cancer in the future

As a teaching hospital, we have some of the country’s best medical expertise at our fingertips. We're committed to passing this knowledge on to the next generation of cancer experts at the University of Liverpool.
