We explore new approaches to improving the quality of healthcare

Roald Dahl Haemostasis and Thrombosis Centre

The Roald Dahl Haemostasis & Thrombosis Centre (RDHT) in Liverpool opened in July 2001.  Funded by the Roald Dahl Foundation, this physical structure has enabled us to better administer our services in Coagulation Medicine and forge further clinical and research links. The Centre is one of 26 nationally accredited Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centres. We are a Reference Centre for the Merseyside and North Wales region and the clinical spectrum encompasses patients with severe bleeding to severe thrombotic problems of both congenital and acquired aetiologies. We have over 3000 patients registered under our care and inpatients are looked after on Ward 7Y.

The Centre’s focus on the patient environment has earned mention in the international Crafts magazine and grant awards from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and North West Arts Board in the Connect programme. We have had local and national media coverage on our activities and The Centre was visited by the Health Minister in 2001. Our Centre Director, Professor Toh was invited to highlight our work at the Houses of Parliament in May 2003.
