PREVENT - National Counter Terrorism Strategy

PREVENT is part of the Government's counter terrorism strategy CONTEST and aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

PREVENT focuses on all forms of terrorism and extremism and operates in a pre-criminal space, providing support and re-direction to vulnerable individuals at risk of being groomed in to terrorist activity before nay crims are committed.

Radicalisation is a safeguarding issue that staff working within the health sector must be aware of.

Since July 2015, public bodies have a legal duty to report people considered at risk of being drawn into terrorism.

If you have concerns about anyone please refer to the Safeguarding Team via ICE during in-hours and Police on 101 out-of-hours.
