Learning and Development is the training that we give to our staff.
This page gives information about all the different ways that staff can get more training.
At the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, we are keen to support our staff in both their personal and professional development. To do this we have a wide range of opportunities available to all staff in addition to the statutory training that is required by law. We provide training to enable staff to meet organisational objectives and support life-long learning; and are committed to delivering an excellent service to patients and their relatives.
As a large Trust, we want to ensure that our current and future workforce is representative of our local community. We therefore also run a number of work placement programmes to provide education and development opportunities for under represented individuals and for school children to help them to realise their personal potential.
Learning and Development in our Trust starts on your first day, when you attend our induction and mandatory training programmes. You then also receive a local induction into your workplace. Newly qualified nurses and AHPs are also provided with a thorough training programme and either a named supervisor or a preceptor to help them to settle into their new roles. Staff who are new to healthcare assistant roles attend the National Care Certificate Programme, to ensure that they feel confident and skilled in their new jobs.
We recognise that all staff play an important part in the success of our hospital. Everyone is supported in their development with annual appraisals. This is an opportunity for them to spend some protected time with their manager, looking back at their achievements over the previous year, and then setting new objectives and plans for the year ahead. Any training and development needs arising from the new objectives can be discussed and planned for at the same time.
There is a wide range of development opportunities available for staff at all levels in the organisation. These include:
