The Children’s Department is located on the second floor of the Royal Liverpool Dental Hospital and provides a consultant led service providing secondary and tertiary care for children under the age of 16. We work with the child and parent to ensure that the child achieves optimal oral health.

Paediatric Dentistry

The majority of our patients are referred for treatment; however, we offer a walk-in A&E service for children who require emergency treatment, such as those who have sustained dental trauma, have a facial swelling or are in pain.

We provide specialist dental care for the diagnosis and management of various dental conditions in children. Our service encompasses the acute and long term management of dento-alveolar trauma, management of complex developmental anomalies, behaviour management (including use of inhalation sedation, intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia).

We also provide dental care for children with complex medical needs. As a teaching hospital we also provide primary dental care for children treated on the undergraduate clinic. We work closely with other specialities including Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Endodontic's.

We accept referrals from general dental practice, community dental services and hospital specialist.
