
The Dental Hospital is a teaching hospital and we deliver educational programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate students. We work together to provide high quality treatment for our patients.
We provide specialist dental care on a referral basis, to those who have a physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional or social impairment or disability, or a combination of these factors.
The Special Care Dentistry Department is a purpose-built, fully accessible, modern facility.
The unit offers a Consultant-led service, providing specialist dental care on a referral basis, to those who have a physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional or social impairment or disability, or a combination of these factors. We work closely with our medical colleagues throughout the Merseyside region.
We have close links with the Haematology and Hepatology Departments at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. There is also a shared-care relationship with the Salaried Dental Service.
The unit provides a comprehensive service for Merseyside and Cheshire; Tertiary referrals are also received from other centres in the North West.
We are located on the lower ground floor of the Liverpool University Dental Hospital, with two additional surgeries on the ground floor of the main building.
Our entrance is on Daulby Street, Liverpool, L3 2PS. There are a limited number of car parking bays for blue badge holders on site and the Q-Park car park is situated opposite the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where a shuttle-bus service is available for those who require it.
There is a drop-off area directly outside the unit.

Our team has a keen interest in Special Care Dentistry and our dental nurses are qualified in dental sedation nursing, some also hold the Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing.
