Information on the orthoptics department at St Paul’s Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital
Orthoptists diagnose and treat defects of vision and abnormalities in a patient’s eye movement.
We are on the ground floor of the Royal Liverpool Hospital, behind and to the left of the main reception and opposite St Paul’s outpatient department.
What we do
We assess patients’ eye movements, visual performance, double vision and squints.
We are the only dedicated adult orthoptist service in the northwest. Patients who visit us are generally referred by another specialist service.
All orthoptists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, the independent UK-wide health regulator which sets standards of professional training, performance and conduct for orthoptists and other health professionals.
