The St. Paul's Eye Research Foundation is supporting pioneering and innovative work at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with the University of Liverpool. Research funding opportunites are available in the form of large and small grants.
Call outs for funding applications will be made in March and September for larger grants (over £5000) and February and August for small grants (up to £5,000), funding permitted. Allied Health Professionals and nurses are able to apply for the smaller grants following the same competitive criteria.
Grant funding is wide ranging to meet the aims of The Foundation in developing academic ophthalmology in Liverpool. Examples include:
Most awards are for strategic salary support as these are the most difficult for Liverpool University Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust for the University of Liverpool to support and are typically against approved appeals. Support is given for consumables and/or equipment, typically linked to a staff or strategic infrastructure development. Support tends to be for innovative new directions with at least a moderate degree of “risk” that would be less likely to be supported through other routes.
