Advice for Endoscopy Patients during Covid-19

Information

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and unprecedented pressures on hospital services and workforce, in combination with the risks of asking patients to travel to hospital who are in the “at risk” groups for severe complications from Covid-19, normal outpatient endoscopy services have been suspended across the trust.  We are currently only able to offer endoscopy for emergency in-patients and those with an emergency clinical need.

Please do not attend the hospital for your procedure, your case has been checked by our endoscopy team to ensure that is safe to defer your appointment.  Your endoscopy will be re-booked appropriately, according to your clinical need, as soon as hospital services can return to normal.

Please think carefully before trying to contact us during this immensely challenging time, as all staff are under extreme pressures.  If you have any significant or worrying change in your tummy or bowel symptoms that you think requires review, consider the following options:

  • Use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk), if unable to get online dial NHS 111
  • Try to get advice from your GP or hospital doctor’s secretary
