This ward looks after patients who have to stay in hospital because of a problem with their heart.

A team of Doctors, Nurses, Specialist Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals who will help you return to good health following a cardiac event.
We will manage your care in the safety of the ward environment until you are well enough to return home.
The ward includes specialists dealing with, arrhythmia, heart failure and rehabilitation. We work closely with other teams across the hospital to help you heal and discharge from the ward.
These departments include occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
Patients who have health concerns regarding the heart. People are referred to the ward by their medical professional team following any serious cadiac event or issue.
The ward is used for recovery from any serious cardiac event or issue. Treatment is dependent upon the heart problem with which the patient has presented.
Any treatment and recovery plan will be discussed and agreed with the patient and/or family/friends.
Once you are discharged home from the ward you may be followed up as an outpatient by one of our Cardiology Consultants or Specialist nurses.
The staff on CCU/HEC consist of Cardiac Consultants, Junior Doctors, Nurses and Specialist Nurses and other Allied Health professionals.
