About Us

Please accept our sincere condolences if you are visiting this site following the loss of a relative or friend.

Our Bereavement Service offers a Trust-wide, individualised, culturally sensitive service. We provide comprehensive information, guidance and support for bereaved relatives and friends following the death of a patient at either of our hospitals.

Here to help

Our service includes working with medical and nursing colleagues to ensure the prompt completion of all the necessary paperwork after a death as well as explaining to the bereaved how to register a death, how to find a Funeral Director or arrange a funeral without a Funeral Director.

We work very closely with the Coroner's Service, the Liverpool Registration Service and local Funeral Directors to ensure the bereaved have access to all the information and services they require.

The service is provided across both hospital sites (Broadgreen & Royal Liverpool Hospital) and families are seen on an appointment basis; although we will always try and respond to urgent requests for assistance.

More information

Additional (external) information about what to do when a death occurs can be found here.

Our aim is to provide the bereaved with all relevant legal documentation and the return of any personal belongings within 24 hours of the death occurring; so as not to delay the release of the deceased to the nominated Funeral Director (This is subject to bank holidays and weekends).
