Arrangements for the role of chief executive to follow the departure of Aidan Kehoe have been made. Dr Peter Williams, medical director will be taking up the role of interim chief executive later in March.
Dr Williams has worked at the Royal and the Trust for many years, first as a research fellow and senior registrar between 1984 and 1992. After five years in Manchester as a consultant nephrologist, Dr Williams returned as a consultant in 1997 and has served the Trust as medical director since 2008.
In recent years, Dr Williams has played key roles in two of the Trust’s main objectives; as programme director for the proposed merger with Aintree University Hospitals and in overseeing the planning of the move into the new Royal. Peter’s appointment provides continuity to the executive team.
Speaking about his appointment Dr Williams said:
"I’m pleased to be taking up the role of interim chief executive. Having spent most of my career here, it is an honour to be supporting the Trust as we move through this exciting transitional period."
