Patient information COVID-19 pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to see walk in emergency dental patients.

Current patients, please call 0151 706 5253/5254 and have your patient number to hand.

For patients who are registered with a dental practice, please telephone your practice who will be able to offer advice or referral to an Urgent Dental Care Centre or the Dental Hospital.

For patients who do not have a regular dentist, please contact Cheshire and Merseyside dental helpline on 0161 476 9651.

About Us

Part of the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, the Dental Hospital caters for a variety of dental health needs and occupies a self-contained modern building next to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It has undergone a series of major refurbishments in recent years which have significantly extended and upgraded its surgeries, teaching clinics and patient areas.

The hospital has approximately 150 dental units, including six teaching clinics of up to 20 units each, consultation and teaching suites for all the dental specialties and its own dental technical and histopathology laboratories.

The hospital caters for a variety of dental health needs including surgeries for dental extractions, minor oral surgery and designated clinics for the treatment of medically compromised patients and patients with latex allergy. In addition there is a general anaesthetic extractions surgery and recovery area and operating facilities for day case patients requiring treatment under general anaesthesia or intravenous sedation.

Specialist departments include Restorative Dentistry (Conservation, Prosthetics, Periodontology), Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine and a Consultant-led Dental Sedation Unit.
