Forms and information for General Dental Practitioners to enable patient referrals to Liverpool University Dental Hospital.
This page gives information on how to be seen by the dental hospital. It has documents you can download for more information.
The hospital caters for a variety of dental health needs including surgeries for dental extractions, minor oral surgery and designated clinics for the treatment of medically compromised patients and patients with latex allergy. In addition there is a general anaesthetic extractions surgery and recovery area and operating facilities for day case patients requiring treatment under general anaesthesia or intravenous sedation.
The Liverpool University Dental Hospital is a teaching hospital and as such we are able to accept a limited number of patients suitable for treatment by undergraduate and postgraduate students, junior hospital staff and specialist trainees.
Specialists or consultants also treat patients who fall within certain priority groups. Restorative waiting times for student treatment are variable and often show seasonal fluctuations relating to undergraduate timetables, student intake and examinations.
There are a limited number of staff hygienists, who only see priority cases.
In order to be referred for treatment you must be referred by your dentist or by the attending dentist who has dealt with your emergency treatment.
See below for referral guideline documents, which lay out the criteria for being accepted for treatment. These include some documents for use by professionals:
