"The person who knows your body most is you" - Shared care launch event empowers patients in their own treatment

A new scheme at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals has launched with the intention of empowering patients in their own care and independence.

The renal services at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen hospitals are part of a third wave of a project funded by The Health Foundation – Lead by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Other trusts have found that patients reported having greater control of their illness, higher confidence and feeling more confident to ask questions about their illness. Patients welcomed the opportunity to take responsibility for some aspects of their care and many have shared some compelling personal stories of the difference it has made to their lives...
