Easy Read Information

The RLB Programme is an in-house training programme for registered nurses, dental nurses, allied health professionals, assistant practitioners and healthcare assistants employed by the Trust. It also includes the training programme for members of the public in volunteering roles in the Trust.

"I am extremely passionate about the RLB Programme. It is a declaration and validation that we have a very competent workforce that puts patients’ wellbeing at the heart of all we do. The programme will also ensure that all our staff share the vision of the Trust. The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen Hospital is, after all, where we all make the difference."

About The RLB Programme

In 2014, the Trust developed an education programme that will see each and every one of its 1780 registered nurses go through a training programme, to ensure that they have the skills and the support to provide the highest standards of nursing care.

The first two cohorts of the RLB Programme were a huge success, and the scheme has grown to include other staff groups.  To date, we have:

This education initiative aims to further develop staff and volunteers who are committed to delivering the highest quality of care for the health and wellbeing of patients.  This will be achieved by ensuring that they are afforded the support they need, in order to achieve all the competencies required of them to deliver safe and excellent care.  Our staff already has most, if not all, of these competencies.  The RLB Programme will formalise and reaffirm this.

The programme consists of:

  • Attendance to a 1 day multi-professional study day
  • Competencies Portfolio
  • Sign-off by line manager

After completion of the programme, the practitioner will attend a graduation ceremony, during which they will receive the appropriate RLB Badge.  The RLB Badge is to be worn with great pride as it is an emblem of skill, competence and commitment.  The badge will also serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for prospective practitioners to come and join the RLBUHT community.
